For a short while, yesterday, Alex was dressed up as Tinkerbell (his first time in a dress), but then he settled on Spiderman with Lightning McQueen slippers. Kaitlin donned the hat that came with her first ever Christmas dress when she was about 8 months old, her pleated "cheerleader skirt" and her Hello Kitty slippers. They were playing Halloween, of course. It's a favorite at our house.
The kids have been so funny lately. Kaitlin is really starting to pay attention in church and it shows. Last week produced two gems:
"Hey, Mom, guess what," she sad from the backseat of the car.
"What?" I replied.
"Jesus has a brother! And his name is Lulu."
"Do you mean Lucifer?"
"Oh, yeah. That. He wants us to do bad things"
"I know."
Pause. Pause. Pause'
"Mommy, what are bad things?"
On Sunday before church, Kaitlin was getting her shoes on.
"Mom, I am a child of God. And guess what. When I grow up, I will still be a child of God!"
Alex has given himself a dog name. "Cody." I'm sure Kaitlin helped come up with that one. He loves playing puppy right now especially when he has a poopy diaper. He loves to walk around declaring, "I'm a stinky dog!" to anyone who will listen. It's so funny! I simply can't stop myself from laughing.
Alex has also become quite the little mimic. The other day he came into my bathroom looking for his "stupid binkie." And then we had this exchange this morning.
I went down to the basement to turn off all of the lights. Alex had been playing in the play room and seemed finished.
"No, Mom! Don't turn off those lights!" (I'd turned off the theater lights)
"Sorry, Alex, I thought you were done."
"Don't do that ever again!"
I'll admit, "stupid" is one of my words. I say it all of the time. And "Don't do that ever again" is something that my kids hear from me at least once a day. Hey, it's better than the time Kaitlin yelled, "SOB" (but the entire words) when we were at Yellowstone last year. That's one of Jeremy's famous phrases. We had to have a talk about that one!
