Last night we got together for my brother's birthday. We were sitting around the table after eating our cake (the best chocolate bundt cake in the world, by the way!) and ice cream talking, when I boastfully announced that I never feel bored. Well, today? I'm bored! My arm's hurting, but I don't want to take any Lortab because it totally knocks me out. Great when you're alone. Not so great when you are in the company of a 5 and almost 3 year old. Anyway, I finally got them playing outside with the neighbors. And now I really don't have anything to do! I'm thinking that my pronouncement that I won't be around very much might have been a little premature. As long as my tendonitis doesn't flare up (and who are we kidding, it will if I'm on the computer too much) I'm going to be on here a lot!"
Did I mention that Alex had eye surgery again last week, too? Well he did. This surgery went very well as far as recovery is concerned. Last time he spent the day of his surgery throwing up, and the next two days laying on the couch with his eyes closed behind sunglasses. This time he cried for about 5 minutes in the hospital and then he was ready to go. He even went next door to play in the afternoon after his nice, long nap. The only side effect that I have been able to detect is that he is very sensitive to light. A few days ago I couldn't find his manly sunglasses, so he had to settle for these Hello Kitty beauties. What do you think?

"Take a picture of me, Mama!"

Upon seeing the first picture, he said, "I take my binkie out."

And then, naturally, "I stick out my tongue." Where did he come from?
In other news, I got my first cast on on Friday. It's a full arm cast, which means for the next two weeks until I get my lower arm only cast I am almost completely an invalid! I am hopeful that after two weeks, when I have the use of my elbow, and the doctor assures me, the use of my fingers back, I'll be much more able to do things. I think knitting and crocheting will still be out of the question unless I don't have to have the cast between my thumb and fingers, but I might be able to do a few paper crafty type projects.
The good news is that it doesn't look like I'm going to need surgery. That could change if the bones collapse, but for now everything looks good. They didn't even have to set anything back in place. All in all I'll probably be going to the doctor every two weeks to get a new x-rays and a new cast, for a total of six weeks and three casts. Kaitlin will love that--a blank canvas on which to create her wonderful little masterpieces on every couple of weeks. As for me, it will be nice to be able to stretch my elbow and fingers again on Friday, April 17th. I'm counting down the days!
